Our Electronic Materials & Components Business supplies the electronics industry with unique, high-value-added products made from our disinctive materials.
The Electronic Materials & Components Business conducts business in four product categories: advanced materials, chemical products, electronic components and silicon.
The advanced materials division, whose operations center on the Sanda Plant, supplies various types of sputtering targets for smartphone displays and LCD televisions, as well as direct-bonded aluminum (DBA) substrates (highly reliable insulated circuit boards) for hybrid automobiles, low-alpha ray soldering materials and processed silicon products.
Mitsubishi Materials Electronic Chemicals Co., Ltd., is central to the chemical products department, which supplies solar heat-ray shielding films for window glass used in the automotive and construction industries, and organic fluoride products.
The electronic components division is based on the Ceramics factory. This division supplies thermistors and surge absorbers for home appliances, communication devices and other electronic products, as well as chip antennas and other electronic components. In recent years, we have seen these products being increasingly employed in oil and air temperature sensors as demands for electronic controls and fuel efficiency have grown more pronounced in the automobile and motorcycle industries.
The silicon division supplies high-purity polycrystalline silicon and chlorosilane gas manufactured at the Yokkaichi Plant and Mitsubishi Polycrystalline Silicon America Corporation to fields such as semiconductor and electronics materials.
Aiming to Remain a Highly Profitable Business Entity with Products That Have a Leading Share of World Markets
In Advanced materials division, we are working to further expand our sales of targets for displays, extend our lineup of cylindrical and large targets, and develop new alloys.
We are also developing the markets for DBA substrates used in the production of hybrid vehicles to include markets for electric trains and industrial machinery.
In Electronic components division, we are reinforcing our manufacturing and sales structures in line with the growing prevalence of energy-saving air conditioners in emerging markets.
Sales of white-good home electronics are robust in China and other emerging markets, and demand is expected to continue growing. In response to this trend, we have established a thermistor sensor production subsidiary in Laos, thereby reinforcing our manufacturing structure in Southeast Asia.
We plan to continue expanding our overseas production of thermistor sensors and other electronic components to reliably meet expanding demand.
